My 2 out of 3 rule....feeling put together even when maybe you’re not

Hi pretties!

I’d be lying if I said it was easy to get out the door in the morning feeling all put together. Juggling morning tasks, surviving my four year olds daily “I don’t want to go to school” melt downs and a mass of distractions make those morning hours fly by. I could be up at 5am, go to the gym, be back home by 7 and STILL not ready to go by 8:30. The strrruuuggglllle is real some days!

Having it it all together every day is a chore! I very much love fashion, makeup and obviously hair but getting it all right every day can be rough! Sprinkle in my innate need for perfection and viola....frustration. Add some crazy Missouri weather and BOOM next thing you know it’s time to GO and you’re still staring into your closet waiting for just the right thing to come flying at you!

Here’s my rule of thumb for those days when time is of the essence.

If you break your getting ready process into 3 parts you get:

1) wardrobe

2) hair

3) makeup

I’ve always felt like if you can nail 2/3 you can go! I know we’d all rather have all 3, or at least I know I would.... but there are days that your kids are having melt downs, you forgot you have to put gas in your car or whatever life is throwing at you that day and all you really want is to feel and look pretty as you embark the day!

Laying out clothes the night before is always best, so they say....

Well, I DO try...but I don’t know what kind of mood I’ll be in tomorrow. 9 times out of 10 I don’t wear whatever I laid out the night before. This can lead to 7 outfit changes and a whole pile of clothes on the floor, an extra 20 minutes, 3 necklaces thrown about and 5 pair of shoes cluttering the floor.....grrrr....

Two years ago my New Years resolution was to only purchase clothing in neutral colors. I have to say this DID help and I don’t feel as boring as that idea made me feel! When everything goes with everything you have a win everyday! I tossed the bright colors and loud patterns. I realized those things are too “mood” related. Now I just spice things up with accessories.

YOU try working in front of a mirror ALL DAY! You’ve got to start the day feeling somewhat good about your appearance...but YIKES! I gotta go!!

Makeup is a must for me. I don’t feel like me without it... so this one always takes the cake over hair in a time crunch.

That leaves me with hair.... and a soon to come tutorial! I spend the least amount of time on my hair! Yep!

Stay tuned for video tutorials to help you get out the door and look like a million bucks!

Until then, good AURA always!
